[Meine Liebe chapter 7, published in BetsuHana Sept issue 2005]

Erika returns to school and gets grilled by her classmates as to the activities she has been doing with the Strahl candidates over the hols, and of course midway through she has to start obsessing over her missing brother again. I mean, who the hell cares when you've got all these hot young men falling at your feet? Well, I guess Erika does. Anyway the Strahl candidates call for a meeting and in which of course, they only say hi to Erika (Ludwig is especially eloquent) and Orphe asks Erika to be his dance partner at his grandma's birthday ball. Of course Erika is over the moon, but she soon joins the other girls down in the dumps when Ed tells her she was chosen because she was the first to enter the door. Of course there can't be anything more tragic in a young bro-obsessed girl's life. To make things worse, she...can't dance! Horror.

From here begins the suggestive love triangle part (oh c'mon, what else could it be? Platonic love?) Ed finds her practising dancing, she spills her insecurities to him, he asks her if Orphe is 'special' (omg, so cryptic! what could he mean??), makes some cryptic comments (yeah, to Erika sure it is) and teaches her to dance. Orphe is (rather openly) jealous, Erika is confused and upset, and Naoji Knows All (this imo is very funny).

At the ball Erika is introduced to Orphe's grandma, criticised by two of Orphe's 32412047 fangirls, stands up for herself, asks Orphe if she doesn't matter, and is completely bowled over (so am I, to tell the truth) by Orphe's sweet words. The kiss on the hand was an added bonus, of course. They dance and for a while Erika is ecstatic, until Orphe's grandma passes a casual comment that she looks like his sister, which makes her extremely upset for reasons she cannot fathom. Gosh, life sucks doesn't it? Another 2 more mths before she knows if she really can't date Orphe anymore!
